3 Teens Fatally Struck in Car Crash on Camino Santa Fe in Mira Mesa
MIRA MESA, CA (March 19, 2020) – Friday evening, three teenagers identified as Eliesel Rivera, Joseph Lopez, and Michelle Roman were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Camino Santa Fe.
CHP received reports of the collision just after 9:30 p.m. Dispatchers arrived in the 9900 block of Camino Santa Fe shortly after.
Authorities say 19-year-old Rivera, 18-year-old Lopez, and 18-year-old Roman rode in a 1980 Chevy pickup that was speeding. The driver lost control of the vehicle and spun out as a result.
The pickup-truck was then vaulted over the median before striking a nearby pine tree. Emergency personnel located the vehicle engulfed in flames upon arrival.
Medics later transported the truck driver to a hospital where she received treatment for third and fourth degree burns.
In addition, officials later ruled out alcohol as a factor in the collision. No further details have been given.
Our sincere sympathies are with the grieving family of Eliesel Rivera, Joseph Lopez and Michelle Roman.
