6 People Hospitalized after Head-On Crash near Dover Avenue
HANFORD, CA (June 9, 2018) – Six people were injured Saturday afternoon after two vehicles collided head-on near Dover Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at about 3:40 PM, just north of Hanford. A southbound 2017 Nissan, driven by 73-year-old Elida Barrios of Fresno, was reportedly attempting to pass a slower vehicle on Highway 43 when it crashed into a northbound vehicle, driven by 45-year-old Alicio Vasquez of Selma.
From the impact of the collision, multiple people sustained injuries. Vasquez sustained minor injuries. Two passengers passengers in Vasquez’s car, 46-year-old Sabrina Vasquez and 26-year-old Guadalupe Vasquez, were hospitalized with major injuries. The occupants of the Nissan, 76-year-old Michael Barrios, a 14-year-old juvenile, and Elida, were also hospitalized with moderate injuries. All six victims were transported to the Adventist Medical Center in Hanford. There is no update on the medical condition of either party.
The investigation is ongoing to unravel details about the incident and determine the liabilities. No other information is available to the public at this time.
