Charlene Wolfe and Foster Burns Airlifted in Fatal Head-On Crash in Douglas City
DOUGLAS CITY, CA (October 29, 2019) – A man was killed following a head-on crash Tuesday evening on Highway 299.
The fatal crash happened around 8:19 p.m. near Highway 3.
According to reports, a GMC Sierra had crossed the double yellow lines and crashed head-on into a Subaru Legacy, driven by Eldon Ray Wolfe, 84, of Weaverville.
As a result, Wolfe died at the scene. His two passengers suffered moderate injuries and were airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Authorities identified them as Charlene Joy Wolfe, 73, and Foster Travis Burns, 57, both of Weaverville.
Police said the driver of the GMC, 50-year-old Andrew John Carey of Weaverville, suffered a medical condition or seizure that caused the crash. Paramedics took him Mercy Medical Center.
Meanwhile, one passenger in the GMC, 50-year-old Kimberly Jones of Weaverville, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Trinity Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
