81-Year-Old Woman Hurt in San Diego Two-Vehicle Collision on Miramar Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 20, 2019) — An 81-year-old woman suffered injuries a two-vehicle collision on Miramar Road Thursday afternoon.
The San Diego police said the accident occurred at about 4 p.m. in the 7100 block of Miramar Road. The woman was driving a 2014 Lexus SUV eastbound when she failed to stop for a red traffic signal. She then pulled into the left-turn lane at the intersection of Miramar Way, in front of a westbound 2015 Mercedes-Benz cargo van. The van ended up hitting the SUV.
The medics transported the woman to a hospital with serious injuries including a torn aorta. On the other hand, the Mercedes-Benz driver had a minor complaint of pain.
Meantime, the police did not suspect that drugs and alcohol were factors in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
Always focus on the road and be aware of your surroundings when you’re driving. If you are crossing a busy intersection, activate your turn signal or blinker before making any turns. If you are turning in a road where there is no dedicated left-turn signal or lane, be patient and make sure there is no obstruction to your view. Driving with caution and following the conditions of the road can help prevent accidents.
