Darlene Ferris Arrested after Fatal DUI Accident near Cleveland Avenue
SANTA ROSA, CA (August 18, 2018) – A man was killed Saturday afternoon following a suspected DUI Crash on Industrial Drive near Cleveland Avenue. The identity of the deceased was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
According to officials with the Santa Rosa Police Department, the incident took place at about 3:30 PM in a parking lot at the 3600 block of Industrial Drive. A minivan was backing up at a high rate of speed when it hit a curb and a tree.
The impact of the crash caused a 77-year old Santa Rosa man to fall out of the vehicle. He was then run over by the minivan. An off-duty paramedic witnessed the scene and rendered aid to the victim before he was rushed to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries, and he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Meanwhile, the minivan driver, 71-year-old Darlene Ferris, was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
