Deadly Pedestrian Accidents in California
In 2017, 5,977 pedestrians died in traffic crashes in the United States.
On average, a pedestrian was killed every 88 minutes in traffic crashes. That is more than 16 people a day, almost 115 people a week.
While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents. But the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
