92-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck by SUV near East Juanita Avenue
GLENDORA, CA (September 16, 2018) – An elderly man has died a day after a bicycle accident on Bonnie Cove Avenue. The identity of the victim was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the Glendora Police Department, the incident took place at about 8:59 AM on Sunday, near East Juanita Avenue. The bicyclist entered the intersection and was struck by an SUV.
He sustained critical injuries, and he was rushed to the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment. On Monday evening, authorities confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It was noted that there is no traffic light at the 4-way stop, where the fatal crash occurred. An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the incident and to identify possible contributing factors.
