67-Year-Old Man in Mobility Scooter Struck and Injured by Truck at 14th Street
OAKLAND, CA (May 30, 2018) – An elderly man was injured in a tractor-trailer accident on Brush Street, early Wednesday afternoon.
According to police reports, the collision took place at the intersection of 14th and Brush Streets in West Oakland, at 12:18 PM. The man was in a marked crosswalk, traveling eastbound across Brush in a mobility scooter, when struck by a tractor rig pulling an end-dumping trailer that was going south on Brush.
He was thrown from his scooter and onto the road. The unidentified man sustained cuts, bruises, and other possible injuries, and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. There is no update on his current condition.
Police officials arrived at the scene to find the scooter stuck in the front grill of the truck. The driver remained on site and cooperated with officials during their investigation. Per reports, the driver stated that he had the green light.
No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time, as authorities continue their investigation.
