61-Year-Old Male Victim Fatally Struck in Car Accident on Riverside Avenue in Rialto
RIALTO, CA (May 4, 2020) – Sunday evening, a 61-year-old man from San Bernardino died in a pickup-truck crash on 10 Freeway in Rialto.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the elderly man drove a pickup-truck directly into a stalled tractor-trailer around 10:40 p.m.
Reports revealed that the man was traveling east in a 1995 blue Toyota T100. However, as he headed east, he hit a 2017 white Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer combination that has pulled over in the No. 3 lane east of Riverside Avenue due to a mechanical failure.
Meanwhile, the agency spokesman CHP Officer Ivan Sandoval said that the 34-year-old male tractor-trailer driver was a resident of Hemet. He added that the tractor-trailer driver activated the rig’s hazard lights. At this time, the authorities are still trying to determine the reason why the pickup struck the back of the Freightliner.
Authorities later pronounced the pickup driver dead at the scene. Moreover, the authorities didn’t disclose his identity due to pending family notification.
