48-Year-Old Woman Died after Pedestrian Collision on Mariposa Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard
EL SEGUNDO, CA (March 2, 2018) – A 48-year-old El Segundo woman was fatally injured after being struck by a vehicle on Mariposa Avenue, late Friday night.
At around 10:30 PM, El Segundo Police Department officers and emergency personnel responded to reports of a pedestrian collision on the intersection of Mariposa Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was crossing the road when she was hit by a car that was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto southbound Sepulveda Boulevard. The vehicle was driven by a 61-year-old man from Inglewood, who was uninjured in the collision. He remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
According to Sgt. Aaron Corkins of the El Segundo Police Department, the victim was treated by El Segundo Fire Department personnel at the scene before she was rushed to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.
