ANAHEIM, CA (January 27, 2019) – Authorities have identified the person who died in a fiery crash in Anaheim on Sunday, Jan. 20.
Orange County coroner’s office identified the deceased as 42-year-old Efrain Figueroa, of Riverside.
According to California Highway Patrol, at around 4:43 a.m., the driver made a U-turn on the 91 Freeway near Lakeview Avenue in Anaheim Hills, then sped westward in eastbound lanes. The vehicle then struck head-on a concrete center divider near the Euclid Street exit and burst into flames
Figueroa was the only person killed in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved, authorities said. A GoFundMe account was created to help his family in the funeral expenses.
It was not clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident, authorities said. All lanes in both directions were shut down for approximately an hour. The freeway was fully open at about 9:25 a.m.
