Edwin Gonzalez Detained, Injuries Sustained in DUI Crash on College Avenue
BERKELEY, CA (July 27, 2019) – Police arrested a teenage boy after a DUI crash on College Avenue, early Saturday morning.
The authorities identified the suspect as 19-year-old Edwin Gonzalez of Hayward.
According to CHP, the collision took place near the intersection of Woolsey Street around 1:45 AM. Based on an initial report, Gonzalez crashed his Acura sedan into a Jeep. After that, it crashed through a fence and landed in the yard of a home in the 2700 block of Woolsey.
The Acura had four passengers. Emergency responders found several people, including Gonzalez, with minor injuries.
Police arrested Gonzalez on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury. In addition, he is charged with DUI while under 21 years old and driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
