Napa, CA (November 12, 2024) – 24-year-old Edwin Alejandro Mera Vargas was arrested after a crash on Congress Valley Road that left both him and his passenger injured.

At approximately 4:55 a.m., Edwin Alejandro Mera Vargas, 24, was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup westbound on Congress Valley Road when he crashed into a tree and then a parked vehicle, according to CHP Napa bureau spokesperson Marc Renspurger.

The collision caused serious injuries to Mera Vargas and his passenger, 33-year-old Osvaldo Mera Barrera, also of Napa. 

Emergency responders transported both men to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Following the incident, authorities detained Mera Vargas and booked him into the Napa County jail on several charges. 

These included a felony allegation for leaving the scene of an accident and misdemeanor charges for drug possession, public intoxication, and providing false identification to law enforcement. 

Jail booking records indicate he was released on $50,000 bail later that evening, shortly after 9 p.m.
