2 Injured after Vehicle Hits School Bus and Car at Ash Street and Rowan Avenue
SPOKANE, WA (October 16, 2019) – Authorities identified 81-year-old Edward Ellenz as the driver arrested after crashing into a school bus and a passenger car, Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Spokane Police Department, the incident happened at about 4:00 PM. A vehicle driven by Ellenz failed to yield at a stop sign at Ash Street and Rowan Avenue. There, it crashed into an occupied school bus and another passenger car.
Emergency responders rushed the 29-year-old driver of the other car and her 5-year-old passenger to Sacred Heart. The driver suffered injuries to her wrist, while the child sustained a cut lip and a black eye. Meanwhile, the children inside the school bus did not sustain injuries.
After receiving medical treatment, Ellenz was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for two counts of vehicular assault. In addition, authorities believe that alcohol played a role in the collision.
