Edward Abendroth Jr Killed in Highway 158 Collision [Glasscock County, TX]

Glasscock County, TX (November 7, 2023) – Edward Abendroth Jr., 28, of Midland, was killed following a Highway 158 collision Friday morning.

Texas DPS officers said Abendroth Jr. was driving his truck with a towed trailer eastbound on the highway.

At the same time, a truck with a towed trailer driven by Claudio Barranco, 26, was driven directly in front of Abendroth Jr’s vehicle. 

Abendroth Jr failed to control his speed and rear-ended Barranco’s trailer,

The responding rescuers declared Abendroth Jr. deceased at the scene.

Moreover, another truck with a towed trailer driven by Casey O’Connell, 34, was westbound on the same highway. O’Connell was struck by debris from the initial collision.

O’Connell lost control of his truck and trailer, causing them to rollover.

Investigators said O’Connell’s trailer was a cattle hauler that was loaded with about 120 cattle when the collision happened. 44 of the cattle died at the scene.
