Eduardo Umana Cordona Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash on Southwest Freeway [Houston, TX]

1 Person Dead and 1 Injured in Houston DUI Accident on Southwest Freeway

HOUSTON, TX (June 24, 2023) – Friday morning, authorities arrested Eduardo Umana Cordona after a fatal DUI crash on Southwest Freeway.

The incident happened at around 1:40 a.m. in the 800 block of the Southwest Freeway.

According to the Houston Police Department, an eastbound red Kia Sorrento traveling in the westbound lane of the freeway collided head-on with a westbound Harley-Davidson. Then, the force of the crash caused a fire.

Moreover, responding paramedics pronounced the 42-year-old motorcyclist, dead at the scene. Then, responders transported the Kia driver, 25-year-old Umana Cordona, and his 25-year-old male passenger to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Furthermore, officers arrested the driver for intoxication manslaughter.

At this time, the cause of the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
