Eddie Chronister Fatally Hurt after Roseville Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway
ROSEVILLE, CA (October 6, 2019) – A man identified as Eddie Chronister died in a pedestrian crash on 80 Freeway on Thursday, October 3.
At about 12:45 a.m., the 40-year-old pedestrian, a San Luis Obispo resident, walked southbound across westbound lanes of 80 Freeway near Douglas Boulevard. Then a 1999 Toyota Camry struck him. After that, another vehicle a 2018 Ford F-150 hit him, CHP said. Emergency personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The Toyota, driven by a 90-year-old Sacramento man, braked yet was unable to avoid the pedestrian in the No. 3 lane. The initial crash pushed the pedestrian into the No. 2 lane, where the Ford is. The Ford driver was also unable to avoid the pedestrian after the driver braked and swerved to avoid slamming into the Toyota.
Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with CHP officers. Each reportedly drove at around 65 mph.
