Property Destroyed after Fresno DUI Car Accident
FRESNO, CA (January 30, 2020) – A DUI car accident destroyed property at two different residences on Avenue 12 on January 29.
No one sustained injuries but the crash left debris scattered around the area.
“It didn’t sound like a crash with a car,” Maria Macias said. “It sounded like a boom.”
According to Macias, she woke up when the vehicle hit her brick mailbox. “This one saved my life,” Macias added. “The mailbox saved my life.”
According to investigators, Eddie Block traveled down Avenue 12 near Loren Way when he lost control of his Dodge Ram and struck Macias’s mailbox.
He then overcorrected and crashed into a fence and a parked car before ramming into a home on the other side of the road. The suspect then went out of the pickup and fled.
“Officers were able to grab a license plate and search the area prior to arriving on scene. And were able to locate the driver a couple of blocks away,” Greg Rodriguez with California Highway Patrol said.
Eddie Block, a candidate for Madera County Board of Supervisors in District 4, faces several charges of DUI and hit and run.
“The officers observed some signs of intoxication, and he was arrested on DUI as well as hit and run,” Rodriguez added.
