SANTA BARBARA, CA (March 20, 2024) – Monday night, an e-bike rider allegedly caused a crippling crash on Olive Street and Figueroa Street.

The incident on Olive Street and Figueroa Streets happened when a motorcycle and an e-bike crashed at around 7:21 p.m. The motorcycle rider claimed the e-bike made a sudden appearance, causing the motorcycle to swerve and lose control.

After the crash, the e-bike rider was nowhere to be seen. The motorcycle hit parked cars on Olive St., including a Geo Metro and an older Honda sedan, before finally coming to a stop behind an Acura RDX.

Emergency responders found the motorcycle rider conscious but partially under the Acura RDX. The rider mentioned seeing or nearly encountering more e-bikes further down Olive St.

Local residents noted that accidents like this are common on Olive St., warning against parking there due to narrow streets and frequent collisions.
