1 Dead and 1 Injured after Rollover Accident near Great Sand Dunes Entrance
ALAMOSA COUNTY, CO (April 18, 2018) – A 24-year-old resident of Mosca died on Wednesday night after the vehicle he was driving rolled over and crashed on Colorado 150.
According to the Colorado State Patrol investigation, Dylan Vittoria was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty northbound when it veered off the left side of the roadway and struck a delineator post. The driver then steered the vehicle to the right in an attempt to get back onto the roadway, but caused the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise direction.
Vittoria then steered to the left in an attempt o gain control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction before rolling three times while going off the left side of the roadway. A passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Theodoric Ammerman of Mosca, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. Vittoria succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash.
Authorities are still investigating to determine if alcohol, speed, or drugs were involved in the incident. It was found that seatbelts were used by both the driver and the passenger.
