2 Children Injured in Santa Fe Auto Accident on Rodeo Road

SANTA FE, NM (November 17, 2024) – Friday afternoon, Dylan Michael Ortiz Delgado was detained after a DUI crash on Rodeo Road.

The incident involving a suspected drunken driver occurred just after 2:00 p.m. on Rodeo Road.

Two children were hospitalized after a crash on Rodeo Road, with one airlifted to Albuquerque in “critical but stable” condition, according to Santa Fe police Deputy Chief Thomas Grundler. The children, estimated to be 7 and 9 years old, were traveling with an adult when their vehicle was struck. 

Police arrested Delgado, 36, at the scene after a struggle. Witnesses reported Delgado driving recklessly and passing vehicles on the shoulder before the collision at Rodeo and Galisteo Roads, near the Rail Runner Express tracks. 

Delgado faces charges of driving under the influence causing great bodily harm, reckless driving, and attempting to disarm a police officer. Court records show he has prior DUI convictions from 2008 and 2017, along with multiple traffic violations and two warrant arrests for failure to appear in court.
