Police Seek the Driver after Hit-And-Run Crash on Fairmount Avenue and Olive Street in San Diego

San Diego, CA (January 20, 2022 ) – Tuesday evening, 13-year-old Dylan De La Cruz of City Heights sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Fairmount Avenue and Olive Street.

The hit-and-run crash happened at around 6 p.m. on January 11, just a block from his home.

Dylan said a vehicle struck him while crossing Olive Street. He was from basketball practice and split with his friends at the intersection.

“I turned to the left and I saw it coming, and my friend screamed my name,” said Dylan.

However, the driver immediately fled the scene.

Dylan also said a woman helped her and said she was a nurse.

EMS then took to the hospital and suffered a concussion, broken wrist, and broken pinkie finger.

He’s now making an appeal to find the hit-and-run driver.

“I want to know who hit me because it’s not right that he hit me. He just left,” said Dylan.

He and his mom also hoped to find the good Samaritan that came to his aid.

Witnesses told Dylan’s family the brown SUV may have been a Chevy Tahoe.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 888-580-8477.

If you know the identity of the good Samaritan, email Tips@10news.com.

One of Dylan’s teachers started a Gofundme campaign to help the family with expenses.
