1 Dead in El Cajon Auto Accident on Interstate 8 and El Cajon Boulevard
EL CAJON, CA (August 27, 2024) – Sunday morning, a DUI suspect died in a wrong-way crash on Interstate and El Cajon Boulevard.
The incident occurred at about 12:45 p.m. as a 49-year-old Lakeside resident headed east on the westbound side of the freeway. Then, her 2021 Kia K5 crashed with a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado just west of El Cajon Boulevard.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, with her identity being withheld until her family is notified.
Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver, a 34-year-old man from El Cajon, was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of moderately serious injuries, according to CHP public affairs Officer Jared Grieshaber.
Initial evidence suggests that the woman was intoxicated at the time of the crash, the spokesperson added.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
Sweet Lawyers extends our condolences to the family and community of the victim.
