6 Children, 4 Adults Injured in DUI Crash on 38th Avenue and International Boulevard

Oakland, CA (September 11, 2021) – On Thursday night, a crash on 38th Avenue and International Boulevard left ten people injured including 6 children.

The incident happened on September 9 in the area of 38th Avenue and International Boulevard shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Oakland police responded to the scene and found three vehicles involved in the collision. According to the report, a minivan with 9 occupants was traveling north on 38th Avenue heading toward International Boulevard. At the same time, a Pontiac G6 was traveling east on International in the bus lane.  

Based on surveillance footage and reports of witnesses, the Pontiac was driving at a high rate of speed. Then, it ran a red light at the intersection as a result, it collided with the minivan. 

The impact of the collision ejected two children ages 9 and 2  from one of the vehicles. Medics transported them to a nearby hospital in critical condition with severe head trauma. However, there has been no information available regarding their current condition. 

DUI Crash in Oakland

Police said the Pontiac driver attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by area residents. They arrested him for DUI and hit-and-run.
