Horrific DUI Crash on South 16th Avenue Injures 3 People [Yakima, WA]

Yakima, WA (December 30, 2023, 2023) On Christmas Eve, a possible DUI crash on South 16th Avenue left 3 people with severe injuries.

According to the Yakima Police Department (YPD), the vehicle crashed around 2 p.m. on South 16th Avenue and Grant Street.

Reports say that a 27-year-old Union Gap man was recklessly driving on South 16th Avenue, the vehicle was going more than 20 mph over the speed limit when it collided with another vehicle waiting to turn left from Grant Street onto South 16th Avenue.

Officials say that the Union Gap man had been involved in a road rage situation with another driver shortly before the crash.

Authorities say that the crash caused the driver of the other vehicle, a 31-year-old man from Yakima, and his female passenger, a 24-year-old woman, severe injuries.

Meanwhile, the Union Gap man also suffered serious injuries. All 3 injured people were transported to the hospital for immediate treatment. Authorities have not released the current condition the patients are in at this time.

Police say that they found evidence that the Union Gap man was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash. Officials say that the suspect driver is now facing possible charges of vehicular assault and DUI.
