Driver Arrested after  DUI Crash on Interstate 5 in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA (August 11, 2023) – Friday morning, a toddler sustained critical injuries in a DUI crash on Interstate 5.

CHP said a 31-year-old Stevenson Ranch man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Friday morning after allegedly colliding with another vehicle — sending a toddler to the hospital with major injuries.

At about 12:50 a.m., the 31-year-old suspect was traveling north on Interstate 5 at an “unsafe speed” when he crashed with a 2001 Ford Expedition south of Balboa Boulevard.

The CHP’s Newhall office received a call reporting the collision and that a toddler was unconscious and not breathing.

The toddler was sent to Northridge Hospital Medical Center with serious injuries. At the time of publication, the extent of the child’s injuries was unknown.  

The Stevenson Ranch man had been booked into the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys jail. 

It is possible that additional fees will be imposed.
