Driver Loses Control of Truck in Seattle Accident
SEATTLE, WA ( April 6, 2019) – An unidentified man was involved in a semi-truck accident on the 5 Freeway early Saturday morning.
According to officials the crash occurred on the 5 Freeway near Andover Street.
The driver of a semi-truck was traveling northbound when he fell asleep behind the wheel. As a result, the truck went through the center divider and took out a light pole. The 18-wheeler was carrying two trailers.
Impact caused one of the trailers to land on its side while the other rolled onto the southbound lanes. Washington State Trooper Rick Johnson said one of the semi’s trailer was carrying textiles and boxes of barbeque grills. In addition, the truck had to be towed.
Due to the collision, several lanes on the freeway were blocked for a period of time. The driver was able to get out of the semi truck without assistance. However, no information regarding his identity nor medical status has been released. The Seattle Fire Department stated there was a leak from one of the trucks.
Washington State Troopers are still investigating the incident. No further information has been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the accident.
It is dangerous to be behind the wheel if you find yourself feeling drowsy, sleepy, or fatigued. It is best to wait for a period of time until it is safe to do so or call for any assistance if needed. Doing so can prevent yourself and others from being involved in an accident.
