Toyota Driver Injured in Bakersfield 2-Vehicle Crash
Bakersfield, CA (March 1, 2024) – Two drivers were injured following a Highway 58 collision Thursday morning.
CHP officers responded at 6:24 a.m. on February 29 to a rear-end collision east of Bussell Road.
Investigating offices stated that a 66-year-old Bakersfield man driving a 2001 Toyota Rav4 was involved in a different collision. His vehicles got disabled in the westbound lane of the freeway.
The Toyota driver got out of his vehicle to check the damage.
At the same time, a 66-year-old man, also from Bakersfield, was driving a Subaru westbound on the same freeway. The accident report noted that the Subaru driver was traveling at around 60 mph while approaching the Toyota driver.
Unfortunately, the Subaru driver did not see the Toyota and rear-ended it.
Responding officers located the Toyota driver lying in the traffic lanes.
Subsequently, the medical team transported both drivers to Kern Medical for their injuries.
CHP officers do not consider alcohol and/or drugs as factors in the collision. According to them, the combination of patchy fog and unsafe speed for the roadway conditions played a role.
