Drivers Die in Wrong-Way Crash on 605 Freeway [Cerritos, CA]

Cerritos, CA (February 19, 2022) – On Friday, two drivers lost their lives in a wrong-way crash on 605 Freeway.

It was about 2 a.m. when the incident happened on the southbound freeway.

Investigators say the driver of a red Hyundai Elantra made an illegal U-turn on the southbound lanes and traveled northbound in the wrong direction.

As a result, the vehicle struck a gray Honda Civic and the two vehicles burst into flames.

A good Samaritan administered CPR to one of the drivers, but the two drivers succumbed to their injuries at the accident scene.

Meanwhile, the authorities said fatal incident is a possible DUI case. They are still investigating the fatal collision.
