Driver Arrested in HWY 99 Fatal Crash
Tulare County, CA (April 26, 2024) – 21-year-old Lisandro Santos was killed in a Highway 99 collision early Wednesday morning.
It was about 3:10 a.m. when the authorities received a report about a wrong-way driver north of Betty Drive.
Responding officers said 20-year-old Saul Saldana Armenta from Fresno was driving a southbound 2015 Dodge Charger in the freeway’s northbound lanes approaching Betty Drive.
As a result, the wrong-way driver collided with a 2022 Honda Civic driven by 21-year-old Lisandro Santos from Porterville.
Unfortunately, Santos succumbed to his crash injuries days before his 22nd birthday.
CHP officers said alcohol appeared to be a factor and arrested Armenta under suspicion of driving under the influence.
Meanwhile, here is a GoFundMe link to help the family of the deceased.
Sweet Lawyers would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved. Our hearts are with you through these trying times.
Is It Possible for the Loved Ones of Lisandro Santos To File a Claim?
Dealing with a loved one’s sudden and tragic death is indeed painful. It would undoubtedly take a lot of time to recover from this loss.
However, the worst part to consider is when the death was a result of other people’s negligence.
That is why hiring a legal expert to help with a possible wrongful death claim is one of the best decisions one could make now.
Moreover, knowing that each state has laws covering who can file a wrongful death suit on behalf of the deceased is helpful. These people are related to or depend financially on the person who died. The law usually allows the following people to file a wrongful death case:
- Surviving spouses;
- Domestic partners (registered domestic partnership);
- Children of the deceased;
- Financial dependents, parents, and minors under the care of the deceased;
- Personal representatives.
- These people can differ from state to state.
