Driver Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Shields Avenue and Howard Avenue [Fresno, CA]

1 Dead in Fresno Hit-and-Run Accident on Shields Avenue

 
FRESNO, CA (July 5, 2020) – Thursday night, a driver died in a two-vehicle crash on Shields Avenue outside of Fresno.
 
According to the Fresno Area CHP Communications Center, they heard of the hit-and-run accident on Shields Avenue and Howard Avenue at 8:00 p.m.
 
The incident began when an unidentified driver of a 2001 silver Toyota Corolla traveled south on Howard Avenue. Meanwhile, a 70-year-old Fresno man in a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer traveled east on Shields Avenue, near Howard Avenue.
 
When the Blazer approached the intersection, the Corolla also entered at the same time. However, the Corolla failed to yield the right of way to the Blazer. As a result, the front-end of the Crolla crashed with the Balzer’s left rear. The impact led the Blazer to roll over three times.
 
Furthermore, the authorities revealed that the Blazer driver didn’t wear a seat belt. Thus, the force of the crash threw him off from his vehicle and died at the scene.
 
On the other hand, the Toyota didn’t stop and went driving south on Howard Avenue. At this time, the police haven’t located the suspect yet.
 
However, the CHP investigators revealed that they found a possible license plate of the suspect nearby. They are also working on follow-ups to some witness information and evidence.
