48-Year-Old Mendocino Man Dies after Two-Vehicle Collision near Jack Peters Creek Road
MENDOCINO, CA (May 25, 2019) – A Mendocino man died Saturday morning following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 1. Authorities withheld the identity of the 48-year-old victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Jack Peters Creek Road, at about 9:10 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, a northbound 1991 Honda turned left in front of a southbound 2002 Infiniti.
The broadside collision claimed the life of the Honda driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the Infiniti driver, a 35-year-old man from Portland, Oregon, sustained minor injuries. His 32-year-old passenger, a woman also from Portland, did not suffer injuries.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
