62-Year-Old Man Extricated from Car after Auto Accident near Fallen Leaf Lane
FALLBROOK, CA (March 20, 2020) – Early Wednesday afternoon, a 62-year-old man from Murrieta was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Mission Road.
Authorities received reports around 1:00 p.m. Dispatchers arrived to the area near Fallen Leaf Lane shortly after.
A white Nissan NV2500 cargo van was traveling east, near Fallen Leaf Lane. Meanwhile, a Lake Forest man driving a Isuzu commercial two-axle truck was heading west on Mission Road.
As the drivers approached each other at a curve, the Nissan veered left and drove across a double yellow line, eventually striking the truck on its left side.
Both vehicles blocked both lanes of the road following the collision. In addition, medics extricated the 62-year-old Nissan driver from the wreckage. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The surrounding area on Mission Road was closed off during cleanup and preliminary duties. Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle remained uninjured.
At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. However, the California Highway Patrol clarified that impairment did not play a role in the collision.
