Driver Dies after DUI Head-On Crash on Nice-Lucerne Cutoff in Lakeport
Lakeport, CA (September 23, 2021) – Wednesday morning, a driver died in a DUI head-on crash along with the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff.
Subsequently, police arrested the 35-year-old Steven Pruitt from Lakeport for driving under the influence of drugs.
The fatal crash happened before 7:30 a.m. on September 22, east of Highway 29 near Clear Lake.
According to a CHP collision report, Steven Pruitt was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro west on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff. He then allowed his vehicle to cross into the eastbound lane into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a light green 1996 Honda Civic.
The Honda driver died at the crash scene.
Meanwhile, Pruitt sustained minor injuries and later found to be under the influence of drugs.
He is currently detained at the Lake County Jail.
