Man Fatally Injured after Two-Vehicle Collision near Balboa Avenue

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 22, 2018) – A man was killed late Monday evening following a rollover crash on Clairemont Drive. The identity of the deceased victim is being withheld, pending family notification.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident took place shortly before 11:15 PM in the Bay Ho neighborhood, near Balboa Avenue. A Ford F-150, driven by the victim, was heading north on Clairemont when it ran a red light and slammed into the passenger side of a Toyota sedan near the intersection.

The impact of the crash caused the pickup truck to overturn several times, ejecting the driver onto the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced the pickup driver dead at the scene, while the woman driving the Toyota refused hospitalization. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
