CHP Investigates Fatal Solo Vehicle Crash on Union Avenue in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (October 6, 2022) – Thursday morning, a passenger sustained injuries and the driver died in a solo vehicle crash on Union Avenue.

The fatal solo vehicle crash in Bakersfield happened at around 6 a.m. on October 6 just south of Mckee Road.

CHP said a vehicle was traveling northbound on Union Avenue at a high rate of speed. 

For unknown reasons, the driver swerved off the road, side-swiped a power pole, and crashed into a tree off the road.

The driver, a resident from Bakersfield, died at the crash scene.

EMS took the male passenger to Kern Medical suffering moderate injuries. 

Officers said speed was a factor in the crash.

No other information is immediately available. Further investigation into this crash is ongoing.
