Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Car Accident on 15 Freeway [Hesperia, CA]

1 Pronounced Dead after Hesperia Auto Accident on 15 Freeway

 
HESPERIA, CA (March 2, 2020) – Early Tuesday morning, a driver was killed while his passenger was injured in a car accident on the 15 Freeway.
 
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m., on the northbound 15 Freeway. Dispatchers arrived just north of the Main Street off-ramp.
 
A 2003 silver Honda Accord containing two male occupants struck the rear of a semi-truck. However, the events leading up are currently unclear.
 
Upon officer’s arrival, the Honda was found wedged underneath the semi-truck. As a result, the two male occupants were trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
 
San Bernardino County Firefighters declared the driver of the Honda dead at the scene. In addition, an air ambulance transported the passenger to a trauma center for further treatment.
 
CHP officers temporarily shut down the surrounding area on 15 Freeway to let the helicopter land. However, the roadway has since reopened.
 
At this time, the condition of the male patient remains undisclosed.
 
Meanwhile, a witnesses of the collision identified as Serena Garza, was driving in the fast lane behind the Honda at the time. Serena revealed that the Honda traveled at average speeds when it veered to the right and struck the left of the semi.
