Driver Killed in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on 60 Freeway and Market Street [Riverside, CA]

1 Dead in Riverside Accident on 60 Freeway

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (August 20, 2020) – Tuesday morning, a driver died in a fiery multi-vehicle crash on 60 Freeway in Riverside.
 
The authorities received a report of the crash just after 5:00 a.m. on eastbound 60 Freeway, west of Market Street. CHP Officer Juan Quintero revealed that a Ford Ranger crashed into the freeway center divider and rolled over. Then, the driver was thrown off on the freeway.
 
Afterward, a Ford F-150 hit the Ranger and the F-150 caught fire.
 
“That collision pushed the Ford Ranger into the No. 3 eastbound lane, where it was struck by a semi-truck,” Quintero said. “Moments later, a Honda Civic collided with the F-150, and it also caught on fire.”
 
Responders transported the unidentified Ford Ranger driver to Riverside Community Hospital. The driver sustained life-threatening injuries and died a few moments later.
 
“It is suspected the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision,” the CHP spokesman confirmed.
 
Meanwhile, the Riverside Fire Department paramedics evaluated the other motorists and none of them were hospitalized.
 
Firefighters extinguished the fire. Meanwhile, the vehicles sustained extensive damages and were towed away from the crash scene. Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer was said to be drivable.
 
The incident did not shut down the eastbound 60 Freeway. However, authorities closed some lanes during the investigation and clearing operation.
