Man Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 76 at Thoroughbred Lane
BONSALL, CA (July 2, 2018) – A man was killed Monday afternoon following a fiery crash on State Route 76 at Thoroughbred Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place shortly after 3:35 PM. For unknown reasons, a 2016 Lexus, driven by an unidentified man, rear-ended a 2018 Chevy driven by a woman traveling about 50 miles per hour.
The impact of the collision caused the Lexus to veer off the roadway, down a dirt embankment before crashing into a concrete drainage wall. Flames started to engulf the wrecked vehicle, trapping the driver inside.
The driver of the Chevy was reportedly unharmed and stayed at the scene until the CHP arrived.
Authorities confirmed that the Lexus driver was not able to escape and died in the vehicle. His identity was not immediately released by the Medical Examiner’s Office. An ongoing investigation is expected to determine the contributing factors to the deadly crash.
No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
