One Dead after San Diego Fiery Collision on Camino Del Rio North
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 5, 2019) – A driver sustained fatal injuries following a fiery accident in San Diego on Wednesday, April 3.
According to San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims, the collision occurred at about 11:55 p.m. on Camino Del Rio North, just east of SDCCU Stadium.
Heims said that a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze moving westbound continued straight at a curved part of the roadway. The vehicle then crashed into a Caltrans chain link fence on the south side of the road. After that, it went up an embankment and collided into two trees. Subsequently, the car overturned onto its roof and caught fire when it came to a stop.
Two people who witnessed the incident pulled over and tried to help.
A witness said that they saw the vehicle jump over the fence and caught fire. They broke the back window and found out that there was somebody in the vehicle. However, before they could do anything else, the whole vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The unidentified victim died at the scene, according to the officer.
