1 Dead in Oceanside Two-Vehicle Accident on Jefferson Street and State Route 78
OCEANSIDE, CA (October 20, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, a 60-year-old driver died in a crash on Jefferson Street and State Route 78.
The incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. when a southbound 2006 Lexus driver traveled at a high speed. Then, he failed to yield at a red light on Jefferson Street and state Route 78.
Eventually, the car hit a 2000 Toyota 4Runner and a light pole.
Sgt. Rick Davis confirmed that the Lexus driver failed to wear a seat belt. Also, Davis said that the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, the two SUV occupants sustained minor injuries but didn’t require hospitalization.
“It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs (were) a factor (in causing the crash),” Davis added.
