Fatal Kirkland Car Accident on 405 Freeway
KIRKLAND, WA (October 30, 2019) – A 49-year-old driver in a fiery car accident on 405 Freeway exit ramp on October 29.
The troopers and firefighters came to the exit ramp from northbound 405 Freeway to NE 128th Street at around 10:30 a.m.
When they arrived, they located a van that caught fire. Firefighters put off the flames and pronounced the 49-year-old driver dead at the scene.
Some witnesses attempted to help free the man from the vehicle but they’re too late.
According to a preliminary investigation, the van hit another vehicle earlier on northbound 405 Freeway and fled the scene. As it drove into the exit ramp to 128th Street, it ran a red light and crashed into a concrete barrier until it caught fire.
The 77-year-old man driving the car that was hit on 405 Freeway was not injured.
Some of the debris from the van hit at least one other vehicle. No one sustained any injury in the crash.
The car accident on 405 Freeway shut down three lanes and caused more than an hour of delay for motorists.
As a result, north and south exit ramps are unavailable, along with the right toll lane northbound at NE 128th Street.
