CHP Investigates Solo Vehicle Fatal Crash on Interstate 8 in San Diego

San Diego, CA (July 15, 2022) – Friday morning, a female driver died, and two children sustained injuries in a solo vehicle crash on Interstate 8.

The fatal crash in San Diego happened at around 8:30 a.m. on July 15.

CHP said a 35-year-old female driver died at the scene, and two young girls sustained moderately serious injuries when the SUV crashed.

Reportedly, the Lakeside woman lost control of the Chevrolet Tahoe for unknown reasons while she and the children, ages 3 and 9, were traveling west through Alpine.

“The vehicle veered into an unpaved center median west of Tavern Road, overturned, tumbled down an embankment, and came to rest on the eastbound side of the freeway”, CHP said.

EMS took the two children to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

Further investigation to determine the cause of the crash is ongoing.
