Driver Hurt after Minivan Crashes into Tree in Folsom
FOLSOM, CA (June 21, 2019) – A single-vehicle crash on Highway 50 in Folsom left a driver injured Wednesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred at about 8:00 a.m. It involved a minivan which veered off the roadway and subsequently crashed into a tree and bushes. The driver of the minivan suffered broken ribs and was taken to UC Davis Medical Center.
Firefighters and a Caltrans crew also responded to the crash. The CHP reported that the minivan got “buried” under the tree, so they requested the Caltrans crew to clear the tree with a chainsaw. The responders also worked on getting the minivan out of the trees and bushes.
The crash backed up westbound traffic past Bidwell Street. This prompted officials to close one lane of westbound Highway 50. The right lane west of Prairie City Road was shut down for about an hour. The road closure was in place until just before 9:00 a.m.
It is important to always be alert when behind the wheel of a car, truck, or bus. Stay within the speed limit, and follow the rules of the road to prevent any dangerous accidents. Always keep an eye out for possible road hazards and stay on guard.
