Target Semi-Truck Slams into Building near Smokey Point Boulevard
MARYSVILLE, WA (July 30, 2018) – One person was injured early Monday morning following a semi-truck crash on Interstate 5. His name and place of residence were not immediately disclosed.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened shortly after 5:00 AM near 172nd Street Northeast. A Target semi-truck was northbound when it left the freeway, went down an embankment, and slammed into a mold making business.
There were no employees inside the building at the time of the crash. However, the business was greatly affected by the significant damage received from the wreck. Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and is currently in stable condition, according to officials.
Authorities believe that the driver might have fallen asleep behind the wheel. The man is expected to be charged with negligent driving following the conclusion of the investigation. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
