Driver Falls Asleep while on 15 Freeway and Crashes into Semi in Cajon Pass
HESPERIA, CA (November 18, 2019) – A driver was injured after falling asleep and crashing into a moving semi Monday night.
The crash took place on the northbound 15 Freeway, about a mile south of Oak Hill Road.
CHP officials said the driver of a Hyundai fell asleep at the wheel and went across several lanes before crashing into the semi that was traveling to the Walmart distribution center in Apple Valley.
As a result, the Hyundai driver sustained injuries but managed to get out of his vehicle. Arriving paramedics transported him to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for proper treatment.
The incident caused traffic to back up as CHP officials shut down the fourth and fifth lanes of the freeway.
Further investigation into the crash is underway.
