Snoozing Driver Breaks Neck after Crash into Weigh Station on Interstate 5
RIDGEFIELD, WA (November 11, 2019) – A driver suffered injuries after his car crashed into a weigh station on Interstate 5, early Monday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at about 3:45 AM. The driver entered into the Port of Entry in Ridgefield and veered into a guardrail. There, his vehicle rolled over and slammed into a light pole at a newly-renovated weigh station facility.
Emergency responders rushed the driver to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with a broken neck. As per reports, the man is in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Investigators believe that the driver fell asleep at the wheel prior to the collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
