Driver Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash on 8 Freeway and Mollison Avenue [El Cajon, CA]

1 Injured in El Cajon Accident on 8 Freeway

 
EL CAJON, CA (August 19, 2020) – Tuesday morning, a driver sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on 8 Freeway.
 
According to CHP Officer Travis Garrow, the crash occurred at about 7:55 a.m. on westbound 8 Freeway, west of Mollison Avenue. The collision involved a tow truck, a police SUV and two other vehicles.
 
Garrow revealed that a 47-year-old Chula Vista man traveled in a Hino tow truck on the westbound freeway. However, as the traffic slowed, the truck rear-ended a Mazda 6 sedan. Reports said that a 55-year-old El Cajon man drove the Mazda 6.
 
Due to the crash, the Mazda was forced into the back of a Lexus RX 350 SUV. The Mazda also sideswipe a marked El Cajon Police Department Ford Explorer.
 
After the crash, responders transported the Mazda driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. On the other hand, the drivers of the other vehicles involved were all uninjured.
 
The incident also shut down the right two lanes of 8 Freeway for around 45 minutes.
