Moreover, if you plan to drink outside, always remember to plan for a sober driver to take you home. Then, if you’re the designated driver, it’s important to take the role seriously and not consume alcohol or use other drugs. Here are some more safety tips:
Never drink and drive.
Don’t let someone get behind the wheel if that person has been drinking.
If you’re hosting a gathering, ensure everyone has a sober ride home.
Call 911 if you see a drunk driver.
Always wear your seat belt. It’s your best defense against impaired drivers.
Just one drink before driving can put you and others in danger because alcohol impairs thinking, reasoning, and muscle coordination. Impaired driving poses a serious threat to road safety. It increases the risk of accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Alcohol and drugs impair judgment, reaction time, and coordination, making it difficult for drivers to operate a vehicle safely.
Know that by choosing not to drink and drive, you are taking an important step towards protecting yourself and others on the road.
