1 Hospitalized after Connel Crash on Highway 395
CONNELL, WA (May 19, 2020) – Late Saturday morning, a driver fell asleep and crashed into another vehicle before he went over a cliff on Highway 395.
The state troopers and medics came to the crash scene on Highway 395, south of the town of Connell at around 11:00 a.m. after they received reports of a collision.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the 40-year-old male driver from St. Helens, Oregon was driving while sleepy.
He was traveling north on Highway 395 when his car began to steer and hit another car that was also traveling north. His vehicle continued heading off the road until it went over an embankment and landed nose-first at the bottom of a gully.

The deputies revealed that the airbags saved the driver’s life.
Following the crash, the driver was cited for negligent driving. Moreover, medical responders transported the driver to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
